I have the Transmission straps that have the rubber backing. When I am driving sometimes I can feel a kinda shudder through the throttle cable. It is usually when the motor is under load at lower RPMs. Does this mean that my front trans mount is bad? I would have thought with the trans straps I would have been ok. Or is it something worse.
Thanks. |

| are you still using a type 1 trans with a cable-clutch? you may not have sufficient bend in the bowden tube |

| Yes. Still Type 1 trans. Funny thing is that the clutch is smooth as silk and I get no shudder on take off. The Bowden tube has about an inch drop so I don't think that is it. It only happens when cruising and I give it gas or when I accerate slowly. If I punch and accerate hard it it works like it should - well as hard as a 1600 can . My thought was that the mount was somehow moving and causing the throttle cable to go slack then tighten. But I can't see how this would happen with the 2 straps. |

Kind of sounds like the front mount but I thought a middle strap would hold it in good enough?
Check the front mount for cracks anyway just to eliminate it. |

| Remove the back seat and have some one put a finger on the shift tube. I think they will feel the problem. Make sure the strap is tight and the wish bone bolts are tight. www.vwhelp.com |
