| thinking of getting a diesel, have an 82 aircooled now but want to do the veggie thing so here goes, are there any years better than others, what should i look out for,any veggie sites i've been to say the vw diesels are great for conversion turbo or not. also while at one of those sites they were talking about a turbo set up for a 1.6. not a factory thing just something they were putting together from a turbo rabbit. can this be done to a diesel vanagon? what common ailments do these things have. head gaskets, injection, pistons, bottom end. it would see occasional hwy use and i only drive my gas vanagon 65 max on the hwy so a little slower wouldn't be a big deal. i've heard these things are awsome in the mtns,is that true? do these handle lots of miles like a regular diesel? have never owned or even seriously looked at a vanagon diesel so what would be a fair price for one that is mechanically sound, would easily sacrifice pretty interior for solid body and engine/drivetrain. |
