I am getting ready to mount a gas tank in the back of my glass buggy. It will be mounted higher then the motor, will that affect how the system works? I am using a stock fuel pump and 28 pict carb.

It won't effect how the gas tank works. But, pay attention to how high you mount it. The higher you go, the more it will effect your cars center of gravity. A full tank of fuel weighs a bunch and the higer you go, the more tippy the car will become. Generally speaking, the lower you can keep the wieght, the better.

SHMO has a good point, but something i will add is having most if the tank mounted higher than the inlet barb on the carburetor is good in case your fuel pump ever fails. just bypass the pump and go for gravity fed.

Thanks, It will be mounted where the rear seat would be, I have an old 7 gallon moon tank from the 60's I want to use.The bottom of the tank will be a little lower then the carb by about 1 inch so it shouldn't be too high

One more thing to consider is if you ever tow the buggy, it's a good idea to install a fuel shut off Towed or trailered buggy's can bounce around enough to let gas drip by the needle & seat. Gas will end up in oil and screw up a motor if not discovered. Vic. www.vwhelp.com
