I have a 1994 Vw golf GL, However it has 4 wheel disc brake, the last time I had my rear rotors change the guy said it might be a Golf Sport. What is the difference between the Golf and Golf Sport? Thanks

Knowing VWoA... it's probibly just a badge.

All of the '93-94 Golfs had rear discs; they didn't install rear drums on the A3-chassis until 1995, and discs became an option at that point.

Glenn's right too - the 'sport' really was just a badge package, possibly with different interior trim & fabric.

I bought a 97 Golf "K2" at an abandoned vehicle auction a couple months ago for $250.00.

As close as I can tell, the K2 badge was supposed to indicate that it was a "cold weather special" or something. I think the gimmick might have been that you got a free pair of skis if you bought one.

Other than that, I cannot see anything particularly unusual about it.

The K2 Golf had a pair of skis or a snowboard available with it at the time of purchase; the Trek Jetta was the same idea, as it had a Trek mountain bike - most of the bikes went on Ebay right after the car came home, so finding the accessory & car together today is a real rarity.

Actually, it would have been kind of cool of the K2 Golf had been an all-wheel drive or something.

That would have been noteworthy, rather than the dumb skis...

When I registered a GTI I bought it came up at the DMV as a Sport. Maybe He was thinking GTI?

If your Golf is a two door and has sport seats, and orlando 8 spoke wheels it is a SPORT. They also have GTI headlamps. The engine is the same as a regular golf. I owned a 94 Sport. They were available only in Black, Red, and white. These cars were GTIs without the badges. In 95 They officially became GTIs.

I have a 95 VW Golf III 2.0L with manual transmission. On my title it is listed as a GL but everything I have looked at tells me its a Sport. It has disc brakes all around and the seats have a really ugly plaid pattern on them. It also has a racing flag on the gas tank cover...I was wondering if anyone knew how many different engine combinations VW put together for the Golf III in 95. Mine was made in mexico if that makes any difference. Thanks

NO sports in 1995. The only engine available was a 2.0 4cyl. GTI's ot the VR6.
