I'm looking into buying a 1968 Beetle with a dual-port, unmodified 1600 from one of my neighbors. He's recently put a lot of work into replacing the pans, battery tray, rebuilt all the brakes, and a butt-load of other stuff to make up for 30+ years of neglect the car has been through. Now he's trying to get rid of it and there's no way I'm letting it go.
My question is, how difficult would it be to convert a Beetle that's been mod'ed for the streets to a Beetle that can tackle the trails??? Basically, if I restore the car to "as-built," how hard will it be to convert this puppy into a Baja sometime down the road?
Thanks! |

The company that made that rack was Jim Dandy. They were located in AZ. I think they were made sometime in the 50-60's?? The rack is actually pretty sturdy. I actually sold mine a couple months ago. I really liked that rack, but you know what they say money talks  . There is a thread in the accesories forum about this rack. Do a search for Jim Dandy roof rack. Later, Mitch. |
