Russ Wolfe Mon Jul 25, 2005 7:14 pm

That is an OG dash out of a '73.
considering the rest of the car, it is perfect

Russ Wolfe Mon Jul 25, 2005 7:16 pm

That car was being stripped by a couple guys I know in Norway. Only thing they left that was usable was the front axle. They didnt have time to get that.

FASTBACKDON Mon Jul 25, 2005 9:21 pm

I went nosing in Per's "Miscellaneous" gallery and found this picture of a gas pump:

I got curious and did the math -- that works out to about $6.10/gallon. :shock: And to think there's people here bitching about $2.35 ... :roll:

you'll notice the ones bitching aren't the ones driving 30mpg cars.... ie SUV's and big ass trucks....

Russ Wolfe Tue Jul 26, 2005 6:14 pm

I filled my truck last night @ 1.99 gal. If I had driven another 10 miles, I could have got it for $1.95.
And my wife's SUV gets over 20 mpg in daily driving.

FASTBACKDON Tue Jul 26, 2005 7:29 pm

shit you all be happy for cheap gas her in los angeles county 250 to 265 for regular i stopped driving my 3/4 ton 1985 chevy driving my fastback alot more damn

I stopped for a pee break in Baker, California just yesterday (29 July 05) and regular there was $3.019/gal. I filled up in Carlsbad, CA earlier that day for $2.849/gal. The Crown Vic PI took $48 worth of gas. Way too much money. Oh well, it was a vacation. A cool web site to find the lowest/highest gas prices in your area is http://www.(enter-your-state)gasprices.com. For instance, if you want them in California, enter http://www.californiagasprices.com/ for Idaho, enter http://www.idahogasprices.com/ and so on.

DISCLAIMER
gas prices are submitted by travelers (mostly truckers) so there may be errors;
Not all gas stations in the state are listed;
and last, I don't know if all states are there.

God Russ I guess there are certain advantages to living away from the "Left" coast. Here in WA we get the joy of the 3rd highest gas taxes in the nation after Hawaii :x and Calif. Thank you democratic party :evil: My wife and I are thinking we might just spring for one of those hybrid's (Honda Civic) for her daily commuter. But the technology's long term effeciency concerrns me. What do batteries cost? How long do they last? Etc.

One thing to remember about living in WA with its high gas taxes, I will trade you my State Income tax.
My son is in the Navy, and his wife is from WA. They file their taxes as WA residents so they don't have to pay state income tax.
And he used to register his cars in Iowa, so he didn't have to have emissions testing.
I don't know what he is doing now, since he OWNS a home in SoCal.

No thanks. One of the reasons I moved from Hawai'i to WA. to avoid state income tax. I was getting KILLED there, but it still is home. :cry: There's talk of trying one here...but I think/hope there would be a revolution....bright ideas like this are what happens when liberal, socialists are in charge.

This is good evidence that market forces work. If 20 percent of drivers make choices like these, U.S. gas consumption would go down by 10 percent! That would be enough to forestall most major supply shocks.

I use this type of thinking to rationalize my purchase of our new 73 SB. :D

you would have to own one of those hybrid's for about 50 years to make your savings show... do some research on the internet...it might surprise you!

You could just go with a Rabbit diesel. My 1980 Diesel pickup got 50 mpg on the highway, and that is almost as good as the hybrids. You also don't have to screw with batteries.

If the liberal/ socialists had had their way, we'd have had a killer public transportation system like they have in Europe. Instead, Ike allowed himself to get bought by the automakers and put all of that leftover 'socialist' New Deal cashola into Interstates. NOW WUT!! :twisted:
If you look throughout history, both parties have been equally guilty of raising taxes whenever possible. Down here in Oregon, the voters shoot down every damn tax that comes for a vote, and yet they bitch about road conditions, shitty schools, and on and on. Here, the local legislatures add more taxes on gas in closed sessions even AFTER the voters shoot it down. Yet, the same people keep getting re- elected. :roll: The problem is that all the money you pay into taxes tends to disappear into that nameless, faceless thing known as 'BUREAUCRACY'. 'Bureaucracy' is actually nothing but the process of turning useable energy into waste.
But just because people pay more for gas/ diesel elsewhere doesn't make it OK for Americans to get gouged on price. Sorry, but I'm just not buying into that argument. The oil companies keep whining that these price increases are all due to liberals, socialists, higher production costs, hurricane damage, and Chinese demand. YET, oil company PROFITS are at an obscene all- time high right now, which tells me that costs are NOT up. If Bush had any gonadia, he'd do what Nixon did and freeze prices. But then, Bush and Dick are oilmen.
They're going to stick it to us until we fight back. That's the facts, ma'am. :wink:
