| I just finished installing a type 3 front end with disk brakes on my 70 baja. As soon as I tighten the calipers down on the spindles the brakes lock up. Thinking that driving aroud would loosen them up I took a spin around the block only to find that the brakes wouldn't let the car get out of 2nd. I tried jamming the brakes hard to set the pads in the calipers, but nothing helped. Any ideas? |

My guess is that the caliper housing is being pulled too much against the disk. I added a spacer washer/shim to center the caliper....Hope this helps...

Can you even install a Type 3 front end onto a beetle? Why not just swap out the spindles? Later,Mitch. |

That did it. Thank you. OOOOOOH so nice to have disk brakes.
A type 3 front end bolts right to a bug pan.
I drove it around town a little to get a feel for the new front end without the fiberglass one piece. You should have seen the looks I got.
Thanks again Elobo!! Post some pics of that beast. |
