I was wondering if it would pose any problems to tow a squareback on a tow dolly after removing the axle shafts. It is a 1970, with the double jointed axle shafts. Transmission is an automatic. I don't believe that it would hurt anything with the shafts out and the car would tow fine.

With the half shafts out, you should be good to go. Speaking from experience of the last T-3 I dollied, check the lug bolts. And the rear axle nuts. The PO had left them loose, and I lost a wheel less than a mile from the pickup point.
