I live in Oregon, and thought I'd ask before trying to get the info from the DMV.
I plan on building my baja with a 6'' wider beam, and 2x4 trailing arms in the front, and 3x3's in the rear. Using a 7" front tire by my estimates this would put the front tires about 5" wider than stock, and leave much of them uncoverd by the fenders.
On the back I'd like to use the one piece rear deck/fenders combo as sold by MarkV. This would leave a lot of the rear tires uncovered. I don't want to be pulled over all the time and ticketed and am wondering if anyone has knowledge of what is legal?
I had a gut tell me that any vehicle under a certain weight didn't have to have fenders at all, but would like to know for sure before I build an "illegal" set up.
Thanks,

| I don't know about Oregon, but here in Calif you don't need fenders if under 1500 lbs. Sandrails and glassbuggies can be under that weight but I don't think you can build a baja that light. DavidH |

Most cops know it in most states as "fenders are required"
If it were my kid they'd have full fenders.
I've done it by buying 2 trashed sets of fenders and meshing them together.
Your kid will be hassled enough without giving Maddam12 another reason to stop.
Rear license plate light!!!!
