I searched and didn’t quite find the answer. I can’t get my car to idle correctly. My Baja has a fairly new Mocar 34MM single carb and a Bosch 009 distributor. I have heard rumors that the 009 is better suited for dual carb setups. I adjusted the carb, timing and dwell according to the Haynes manual. It runs much better now but I can’t get it to idle. I have to use two feet on three pedals at every stop sign!
Where is a good starting point for the bypass screw? The Haynes manual just says to adjust it till the car idles…. So I have no idea where it should be. The engine is a 1600DP. |

Is your idle solenoid hooked to 12V ignition and working correctly? An easy way to check is to turn ignition on, pull the connection to the solenoid, and touch it to the solenoid connector. You should hear a 'click' if it is working..
If it is..
Use these instructions to adjust your 34Pict.

Remember, valves, points, timing and choke must be checked/adjusted first. |

| I followed the document you pointed me to and also cleaned the idle jet off. Wham! Idles like a champ! Thanks. I don't have a tach so I am just going by ear but at least I don't have to use two feet on three pedals anymore.... |
