help, I'm learning to use the forum. I just started going through
boxes of 52 split parts and found a tag with zar on it. What is it ?
Also need a drivers door. I fell in love with this car over 50 years
ago, and now I have one, or Ishould say all the parts. |

Hi,
the ZAR is the short form of "Zu-Auf-Reserve", in english "close-open-reserve" and itīs a badge for the gas reserve switch. |

| Congrats! It sounds like a very interesting project. Are you planning to go back to original as possible condition? |

Thanks Oval54, for the info. The wife almost threw the piece out.
Yes, I am going to try to keep it as original as money permits.
The car was in storage for 25 years and has many nos parts with
it. If I remember correctly the guy I bought it from worked for VW
25-30 years ago and ordered as many parts as he could through
the VW network. And i'm glad he did. The body is rust free but the
fenders need some work. and I would like to find realy good doors
There aren't many old VW in my neck of the woods so it's
great having someone to learn from. Thanks again |

Before I can start on my body work I need at least a driver side door.
or someone in my area that is good at metal work, and will do parts.
Around here if you dont have a t-bucket or a 57 Chevy, the custom shops wont even touch a VW. I had one shop tell me'' awww what ya want to
paint the inside for its only a Volkswagen!!. So I think i'll try the body work myself. :( |
