How many HP are you running?
Let's just say I used the pedal and did my share of romping it; remember I had to seat the rings.
That said I theorize it's both the way I drove it along with crappy quality metal in the hubs. We'll see.
Is there any way you can use some OE 4- lug hubs, or adapt Bay Bus hubs- something heavier? |

Mark, I use those hubs on my car, they are a very nice piece. Stock T3 hubs can be modded to work, I've done them before. Oh, and you could take a look at the extra pair of 914 5 lug rotors I have laying here.......
Yup, Notched, the radio mount thing works great, but the idea is as old as DIN mounts.

Right now I'm exploring all options. I'm leaning towards the easier route (CB race hubs) but it will cost some $$. Like I said, I haven't even disassembled it yet. I'm hoping the axles are OK. I spent the day on by back with ice packs under the influence of precription muscle relaxers. Being middle-aged SUCKS.
More to follow...my buddy Bruce offered to come over to help me this weekend if my back doesn't improve by then. |

Good news. If they handle your power plant I should be OK on mine. Thanks. |

Passenger side hub was to blame. Driver's side was OK but I'm replacing both with CB's "race hubs". They should be here by Monday and I'll have it back together by the weekend.

Axles were fine, but the bearing cover/seal on the passenger side needs to be replaced too. I thought I had an extra set but my buddy Bruce found one in his stash.
Passenger side. The outer edge of the cover is worn off and the outer rubber/metal edge of the seal came off when I pulled the hub. :x :x

Driver's side is OK. I also discovered that the driver's side hard brake line was apparenlty slightly rubbing on the shock. I'm obviously replacing the hard line and I'll have to bend them over the axle & closer to the brake to elimiate any chance of that happening again. I probably would've seen it on the next oil change but I'm glad I found it sooner rather than later. |

CB's rear race brake kits are installed with new hard lines. They went on the axles nice and snug. My buddy and I torqued 'em to 250 on a Snap On torque wrench, then cranked on 'em even more. They also now have HONKIN' 14mm studs/nuts holding the Fuchs on. Trust me they look MASSIVE. I'm still not totally happy with the pedal feel compared to prior so we're gonna bleed 'em AGAIN, but I need to get some more fluid  .
Long and short is I'll be at both Burgermaster and Vintage. 8) |

Actually, my buddy trailered it down to that show, Jason.
Mahalo to the late comers for all the kind words. I was surprised to see this thread again without me adding to it. That car has come a long way since I bought it back in 2003 when it looked like this:
Believe it or not, I'm still tooling with it; fixing some things that aren't properly functioning or never did, still got to install the Bert's spindles, gonna change the air filters and linkage, see if I can get the tranny to stop leaking...and someday I'll finish the single wheel trailer that'll go behind it. I DO drive it and have a few dings to prove it. Oh, well. That's what touch up paint is for. |
