HEADS UP !! There is a 1950 split bug on ebay. item #4569963542. $6,500 buy it now, Good luck !!!

Wiggy Sat Aug 20, 2005 9:21 pm

Yeah, I posted that in splitsville. Thats not a bad price for a 50 standard. Lots of good parts. If I had the room, that auction would have been over.

I have been working on a 54 right hand drive for about 5 years now, finding all of the right parts has cost me some money. Having all of the parts to start off with would have been great.

definitely makes it a little easier. Im glad I bought mine as complete as possible.

The reserve will be met, the buy it now will disappear and it will go for over $8k. Happens all the time.

Kevin... not at Terryville?

Rick Sun Aug 21, 2005 10:10 am

If I had the cash that car would be mine! It seems like I'm either too poor or I can't find the car. This one will probably haunt me for a while. But is it really a standard, not a deluxe? I see chrome moldings (though the seller says somebody added them).

I am 100% sure its a standard. The headliner is missing around the rear windows, most of the pod and bakelite is black, and it has mechanical brakes. The car has a bumper mounted horn too. Definately a standard.

Any of course, the three spoke steering wheel.

Not this year. Didn't feel like making the drive with the convertible this time.

ah yes, now that I looked at the other pics I see what you mean. Now I'm even more bummed  Despite the plain look, in my opinion standards are the perfect representaion of what the volkswagon was all about. A standard split would be my dream car

Wiggy Sun Aug 21, 2005 1:20 pm

I agree. A standard is definately going to be my next project.

crotchsplit Sun Aug 21, 2005 3:29 pm

i should get this one, only a 30 minute drive for me here in O-town. garage space is the problem. hmmmmmm....what to do. would be nice to have a standard next to the deluxe.

VW Addict Sun Aug 21, 2005 3:42 pm

30 min... damn. Talk to the bank! 8)

Wiggy Sun Aug 21, 2005 4:09 pm

Yeah, no shit Hiram. That would be a nice score for the money.

VW Baron Sun Aug 21, 2005 6:59 pm

I'd love to have a go at that car, but I've got my hands full as it is.
