| I believe vw changed to ball joint front in 7/66. Right in the middle of production. My f'glass buggy chasis number shows it a late 66 , it has ball joints.... |

i think it was earlier than that, my '66 still has '65 style door handles, but it also has a balljoint front end. |

| :D your right, bomberbaja. According to John Muir, vw changed all fronts to b/j between 65 & 66... it goes on to say that anything older than 65 would be a king pin |
