Gary and I took our splits (and my wife drove my Oval) out to Pepperell MA airfield today to watch the sky divers. Was too nice of a day not to go for a drive with the sunroofs open!

I took this pic just as one of the divers was landing. On sunny weekend days the plane goes up with divers 20-25 times, sometimes dropping as many as 24 divers at once.

all I can say is that it seems the guy standing by the rocks is looking in the wrong direction. Looking good John!

The guy standing by the rocks is Gary. And if you want your car to look like one of these, it should be Garys (the Mittle Braun own in the center). His car is incredible. My car looks like a "daily driver next to his".

we too took a drive in our split. we went to the concourse de elegance" in buckingham,pa. great show at a beautiful park. but the best part was all the folks who came up to me to tell me about the westy that sold last week for 99k. then there was the guy who offered to send me a bunch of vw owners manuals for free. then there was a guy who has an nos beetle cover still in the bag. then a guy offered to buy my split. he was from the mercedes dealership. and in my finest john henry form a guy comes up to me and says he has a garage full of nos beetle parts, old stuff including a rebuilt 25 hp engine and bus parts. so i'll let you know how it goes. i had my split bus by the way :D

It'll probably end up being some Super Beetle taillights and a 1600 dual port engine...

John,
Any car that has 70's couch fabric for uphulstery IS a daily driver. :P
Gary, Your car looks great!
Yeah, I know we weren't driving a split. We were driving our daily driver (thanks Gary) of a '57 beetle with just over 77,000 miles to a friends 40th birthday party in NH on Saturday (160 miles), on the way home we decided to take the scenic route on Sunday and put another 210 miles on it. Could have asked for better weather. The Presidential range looked spectacular. 8)
