Anyone ever try the engine stop leak additive? My engine ( 2.3L Ford) is leaking and I'm interested in trying it before I go changing out gaskets. Want to see if anyone has had any luck or if it just gunks up the engine.

I wouldn't run stop leak anything except in an emergency to get in off the trail or road. If it'll stop leaks, what else is it stopping up?

the only one i tryed and had any luck with it slowing down leaks was the lucas oil stop leak. i think the only reason it stops leaks is because its thick as shit. that and 20w50 should slow most leaks

I put some "no smoke" in a 1600 once, The rear main "smoked" about 100 miles later... ironic, eh?

Where is it leaking from?
I would say go for it, as long as the additive is fairly thin, and doesn't have any solids in it. Most of that stuff is just seal swellers anyways. |
