Their slogan is the "Power Of Blue". Kinda fits your deal too.

Clarke welders are blue also. just not quite as dark.

The spindles are on. I need to replace the wheel bearings and seals to put the hubs/brakes on. The geometry of these Tweeds spindles is spot on. Everything cycles smoothly after tightening.

I used one of the beam clamps as a mount for the steering damper.

The steering feels really good. It is not difficult to turn at all. I was expecting more resistance, so I think it will perform as planned. Final say will be after it's driven.

Skid,
What did the steering dampener cost you. I need to do the same. I've had the wheel spin like nuts in my hands too many times now.

Believe it or not, it was $39.95 at 4 Wheel Parts. It is for a Ford Explorer.

Hubs, brakes, wheels, and shocks went back on today, with a high school Orchestra concert in the middle to see my kids perform. Will get some pics up tomorrow, I am tuckered out...

But it is on it's wheels for the first time since October! :D :D :D

Are you going through withdrawal? ;-) Seriously, though, how much do you drive it during the week?

Skidmark Fri Feb 05, 2010 7:38 am

It's been so long I forgot...

GHOT DAMN THATS BLUE! Looks good skiddy.

...I hope you were good at avoiding the overspray.

Skidmark Fri Feb 05, 2010 4:37 pm

Here it is on it's wheels again! The "To Do' list is getting very short, but time consuming bits. It will be done hopefully by midday tomorrow.

There is barely any preload on the springs in these shots. I need to turn them 1-1/2" to be back where it was when they came apart. Tires need soime air as well, but the compressor will stay off until the wife wakes up!

So much for having it running this weekend... in all the brake bleeding, I managed to strip out the threads in one of the calipers for the bleed nipple. Crap! Now I need to try and helicoil it, or worse case buy a new caliper half from CNC. What a bummer... still so close, but stopped dead in the tracks again.

Finally got all the issues straightened out last week and got it running agian. Then my monitor on my PC took a crap! I had to borrow a monitor from a friend - hard to post up pics without a monitor on your PC! Anyway, here are some shots of the new stance. I currently have about 3/4" less preload on the springs than before.

Down the road, and burning gas. That is a good feeling.

Can you tell us more about your headlights? Not the Hellas in the center, but the lights that are in the traditional location. What kind of housings and bulbs are you using? I am contemplating a change.

thx, Neil

I don't know what lights he's using, but I'm using 6" KC hi/low beams since mine is street legal still.

They are the standard chrome bucket lights with the halogen (sp?) bulbs. I got them at Moore Parts Source in Anaheim. You can buy replacement glass, and bulbs, at a lot of different places. I had to replace one already from chasing down Baja5 in Fish Creek (Anza Borrego) at 50 mph... seems at that speed he was throwing rocks at me! Plus I was only two or three car lengths off his rear bumper. 8) Ended up with some cracks in one of them.
