Can anyone tell me any information on how to tell if the tranny in a car is the original one that came from Wolfsburg? They don't provide this info at Stiftung Automuseum on the Birth Certificates. Is there a web site or literature info on tranny numbers so I can compare them to the one on my tranny in my split?
Any help would be great.

You can look at the rear axle numbers here

I'd say if it's the same month/year as your car, it's probably the original. |

Thanks Everett,
This might seem like a dumb questions but is the rear axle number the same a the number stamped directly onto the split case tranny?? I think the tranny in my zwitter is correct but I wanted to try to find out.
I don't think I would know where to find the rear axle number. I only know of the chassis and body number. |
