| Its definitely a 3 fold roof and the pic looks decieving as if the corners on the bow are square but look round because of the dirtyness of the corners but then again Ive seen a few 3 folds with the wrong front bow before. Thats a bad pic for sure. they need a close up of the front bow. |

The corners in the actual hole are supposed to be round like that. Its the material that is square on all four corners, not the hole. |

Sorry to jack the thread, but I have been meaning to ask this for a while and have just not gotten around to it.
I have a 12/52 Zwitter that I bought a few months ago. It is an OG 3 fold, but I bought the car literally in baskets.
Is the sunroof mechanism in the picture complete except for the cloth??? Since mine was completely dis-assembled I do not know if I have everything.
Also, is there a source for assembly diagrams for the Zwitter? Bentley shop manual?? I have the Bentley for my 64, but have never looked in it for anything sunroof related.
Anyone have the assembley diagram that they can post/ E-mail me???
jammond@airwayautomation.com
Thanks in advance!!!
(edit for the wrong E-mail.... duh) |

The Sept 50 split parts manual shows the exploded view diagram of the 3 fold sunroof and its mechanism, with parts details as well, I may have an extra copy or two here.
The other difference in 3 folds as I recall but not 100% is that the split specific polished aluminum rails have the lipped edge on top, and the 53ish -55 rails are different with a channel like feature which had an insert, the 55 and up rails changed again and were flat with no lip. We should post pictures of what we have, I'll try to post a few up this week.

Gary is right, way too many folks think pre `55 is pre `55 NO WAY!
Split sunroofs (up to mid `52 pre zwitter actually, according to progressive refinements) were as Gary said.
-The alluminum rails had NO groove for rubber inserts
-there are NO reinforcments in front corners under the headliner
so if you are installing a 3 fold in your early split...make sure you are educated. I have only seen 1 actual split 3 fold clip sell years ago In PA.
But if you do use a later 3 fold in split...one can always remove the front supports before install. Change the alluminum rails over later if ones are ever found....I have heard folks using early deluxe bus rails without the rubber insert and working those into split beetle rails.
There was another difference too that I can not recall off hand.
