I'm a big VW fan and my father worked for them for 17 years. Normally I'd ask him this but he sadly passed away a few months back. He had god knows how many part number memorized unfortunatlly I don't so I'm asking you. Whats this part, I found it in my garage and am wondering what its is, what its for and if I should keep it. Part number 055 103 173 B.
I think its a transaxle seal or something for the trans. |

| The '103' middle number denotes that it is related to the bottom end of the engine, or the crankshaft; a transmission seal would have a '301' or similar number. |

| Thanks! I'm thinking it goes to the 1.6L block I have in the garage. I think its from a Dasher. Do you know if there are any books that list parts by part number? |
