Supers are not nearly as durable off-road as the Standards are... but it can be done. I bought one a few years ago, and the previous owner had driven it HARD through the fields. He didn't raise the front end any, he just put big wheels on it and cut the front fenders back a few inches to make them clear. He did the standard fiberglass treatment to the rear, and the whole deal looked pretty nice.

But... this is the lowering thread, so enough of that. ;)

 If you're going to lower a Super, do it right. You're not going to break the bank trying to do it.

Cutting the springs is for honda "furiously fast" drivers.

I just lowered my 71 vert Super, It is easyer than you think.
I bought the empi lowering struts, I bought the springs and cart, too
You don't have to change the springs. I found that out when I was changing the strut asy, Get a cheap spring compressor jC Whitney, the springs were the same size. the cartridge is shorter then the original, all you need from your strut assy, is the strut head assy, you have to lose the bushing and dust sheild for strut, take off the sway bar from brackets in front and the job should go well, any question fell free to ask.
Thnks for listening to my BS

I have a 74 super that I picked up 73 strut assemblies for off my buddies old Super. I heard that the 74-up lowering kits aren't too impressive for the money. WHat do u guys think of the lowering kits? I do not know which one I want. the 71-73 for the super low look or the 74 -up kit for that "unhappy stock look" for the same price? i dont know and don't wanan throw $400 away.

So was the '73 strut assemblies you picked up from an early or late car? They switched styles mid-year. If you want to try the 71'-'73 kit, you'll need to change up all the other front suspension components to the earlier style as well.

I also have a '71 Super Vert,
Do the empi struts come with springs? All I need from my old asym are:
The springs and strut head asym? Use these with the empi struts and cartriges and voila?
Sweet, I'm on it.
