I bought some shortened struts (adjustable) and shortened inserts. Added to some 2inch shortened springs. Can lay the thing on the floor (tie rods hit against the body though). Got aftermarket wheels (Proline replica) so can't go low enough

Highly recommended though:

There's a site called TheSamba.com that has a Super Beetle forum that has a topic on how to lower a Super. I suggest you read it from the beginning to the end and it should answer all your questions.

Good luck.

So has anyone installed this setup for the front from AIRKEWLD yet? I want my 74 layin pan when aired all the way out.... I have been researching the Airkewld site but havent found any that have used the air cyl front suspension yet....

I have bagged many vehicles trucks mainly but this will be my first step on a bug and also using the cylinder instead of bag for the front....

I imagine lowering a Super involves something black, plastic and gaudy. Would just seem to fit the look. \:D/

Has anyone used the lowering springs from CIP1 that are to be used with the stock strut housing? It says it will lower the front approx. 2 inches and you use a stock oil strut insert. Item no. C29-1385 on their website.

I haven't but I can tell you from experience that it's the same amount of work and will give better results to use adjustable struts. If the front end gets too stiff, it will wear out all the other components very quickly and ruin your ride quality.

I'm watching that Type 3 lowering rear end video and it shows two spring plates in the video.. but my standard Beetle only has one.

Is that normal?
