Lowering the front of our Type Three's, has anyone come across being dropped 5 splines, ruff ride (kidney jerking), its lots of fun. I think we all have. I am not a purist but the Type Three's should stay Type Three. All these guys using the T-1 style setup should be thinking twice as to what they are doing. The T-3 is known for having this handicap. The T-3 does have serious clearance issues, that's why we drive them right. All my T-3's have been hammered out to the max. Your not low unless you've knocked the bolts off the bottom of your beam more then a dozen times and blown ball joints out. Have you ever been hung up on a perfectly flat and level surface? |

my 69 Notch back in '91 was lowered 5 splines in the front and
3 in the rear.
The front did not ride rough at all. I actually still have some travel.
The rear was solid. I had plans to notch the spring plates to create
some travel room, but never got around to it.
First I took at the bump stops, then I ground the bump stop mounts
completely off the beam. Once I did that, there was nothing for the
arms to bottom out on. |

Ive been thinking that I have to remove my front bump stops but should i go ahead and cut the mounts off? That seems like one of those "point of no return" moments.
