The big resitor inside the air box has gone bad. It regulates the amount of current to the fan, and when they go bad the fan only works on high. I think there is a way to get another speed by wiring the switch a bit, but I'm not sure how to do it.

I was told it was a thermofuse and you could get another from Radio Shack. I guess you would need to first id the size of the one that went bad. I think on my car I just jumpered around it. http://www.hotdub.com/forums/index.php?topic=6985.msg39740#msg39740

No, most shack people are idiots. The fuse is color coded for it's range. No part number on it.

I happened to walk into the shack today for something else and found one with the fuses in the pullout trays.
Part number 270-1321. Silver with white tip. It is made by Micron and the numbers along with the temp rating all match so it is the exact same part!
Remember, this was for my Jetta but I would suspect the vans use the same one. |

The old one may be welded in so if it is just snip it. Solder in the new and snip the ends off. Don't ask me about gettng to it though. My experiance is only from a Jetta.
