I love ebay! I'm going to sell my camper here if I ever have to!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Volkswagen-Bus-Vana...1944QQrdZ1
This is a great example of one to run away from.
I guess they mean by professional restoration is they paid someone to do it. Lot's of big fibs, questionable repairs and missing/broken parts.
Wonder what the reserve is. |

You'd be very unhappy when you got home and started doing research.
Or the first time one of them new car tires blew out, now where is that spare anyways.
Also the fact that someone has badly spraypainted the whole underbody makes wonder what they where trying to hide. |

Not to mention the wrong fuel filter, ripped steering rack boots, rusty LPG tank, home-job side door panel, rusty leaking cargo tie-down hardware on the roof, sagging mirrors (more cracks, weren't we just on this subject last week?), missing bright trim on the rain gutters, failing re-paint at the window rubbers, bondo-filled rusty body sills, K-mart shocks, bent radius rod cross member, shot radius rod bushings, cheap-ass Ford style remote starter solenoid scabbed to the firewall, incorrect hoses and plug wires, and . . . oops, out of time late for a meeting . . . yea Mightyart I liked the tire black on the shit passenger reversed whitewalls - note the bubble in the sidewall where the thing was pulled 'green' from the mold. The Pep-Boys silver paint on the exhaust system is a bit sexier than usual though wouldn't you say? 'Tijuana Jet-Hot'
A fine example . . . . . of what not to buy  |

What an absolute bucket of junk. This person should be arrested for attempting to create a fraud on the general public.
Anyone thinking of buying this can-O-rust should have their innards inspected. |

Don't mince words guys, what do you REALLY think? :D
. . . and it's my favorite Earl Sheib 'custom' color -
skid-mark brown w/ a mustard Naugahyde interior - remember those hides of the elusive nauga? -'RARE' as claimed about the year and model . . I think they're now on the endangered species list, but then so is a 60’s mother-of-toilet-lid plastic dining room table. Doesn't mean I want one . . I wonder how many birth defects will eventually be attributed to cheap carcinogenic vinyl?
Happy holidays to all of you, by the way  |

| It sure looks good compared to mine.Them again I traded a 92 golf with a 194,000 miles for a gl vanagon and a honda cl350 and love everything about it.The dents and tiny chip marks in the paint. It shows that it has been driven like it should. |

Just for the hell of it I stopped by to see the progress on this bucket of
shi-.
Looks as if its still breathing for now.
I might need my eyes checked but has anyone else noticed the missing rear engine vents?
Either the auto body person forgot to re-install them after the custom paint job OR Im wondering if the blind painter just painted right over them.
Ive seen hundreds of Vanagons and everyone had Black air vents. |

| Judging by the scorch marks, it looks to me as if their chef/short order cook used the heat shield/drain board as a grill. Gotta love them no-pan flapjacks! |

Good eye, you will see this in early aircooled vanagons alot, the rear vents on aircooleds are very important, that is where the air is taken in to cool the engine. People will take the vents off in a vane attempt to make a hot running engine run cooler, this is cheaper than buying the correct parts and fixing it right. Problem is it don't work, the black covers don't restrict airflow all that much.
Everybody's found most of the defects I saw, biggest one is the fact it's a badly repaired rust bucket. I liked the westy sticker on the back window to, my thoughts are if you are going to go to the trouble of buying the sticker at least put it in the right place.
I hate to critisize someone elses ride, but I would hate even more to see someone get ripped off like that. |

It's back!
http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Volkswagen-Bus-Vana...7766QQrdZ1
Still more on the bidding then I'd pay for it.
FYI, "Cocoa" was never a color 81 campers came in.
They came in Medium blue, Ivory, or Assuan Brown.
Assuan brown is the lighter brown almost orange that most campers sport.
This may seem like silly trivia to know, but knowing little things like that is what will keep you from getting burnt by untruthful sellers.
Just like I learned on schoolhouse rock, knowledge is power. |
