Well it had to happen eventually....
Driving out of Oaxaca I noticed the engine is misfiring sometimes.
Interesting though, with revs the engine still runs great. But, when I let it come back down to idle it starts stumbling around.
Thinking I'll change the plugs, and I looked at the rotor in the dizzy and it's badly pitted so that'll have to go, and then, ........? |

Good luck keeping it running down there. If you do break down, just stay and eat avacodos and mangos for the rest of your life.
Oaxaca is a great place, huh? Try to get to Apoala near Nochixtlan if you have a penchant for backcountry adventure. It's essentially considered the Garden of Eden by the Mixtec. |

Found my problem.......... :D
After replacing the plugs and rotor had no effect, there's just the tiniest bit of play in the shaft that holds the rotor ( maybe 1/64" ? ). So, at anything other than idle the speed of the rotating shaft centers it and there's no misfire. But, at idle, it's allowed to wobble just the tiniest bit and then I get a stumbling misfire. Very strange. Anyone heard of this happening? |
