Interesting badge Frank........
I don't like the finish though. The real ones I have seen are a duller finish with a colored area where the numbers are located. That badge shows no traces of color in that area which is always there. As far as the numbers go: They're are too high to be correct as I understand the numbering system. Department and employee number......... I've never seen that many departments before. As far as the manufacturer goes: I do not believe they were ever marked on the obverse like this one. Personally, I would not purchase that piece without some kind of providence. At some point, the fakers of these things get everything close to correct, and then the question of authenticity becomes REALLY problematic. This badge, at this point, has too many "red flags" for me, IMO.

The trouble with exposing the flaws in reproductions, is it allows the fakers information that can use to make better fakes. China is able to reproduce ANYTHING now and the high-end collectable markets are reeling with the quality of their products. You really have to know the history of the item you are considering. Without a providence that dates back several years, I usually walk away and save my money for a later date. It's been that way for awhile, but it's getting worse with the material we're seeing from China now. :(
