I get it from all sides, drive a big Diesel powered GMC 4x, have a 500hp LS powered 66 Chevy II and also a 76 MG B and soon my 70 Bug. So I get the poke from all kinda sorts. Funniest is when I'm driving the MG with the top down, at 6'4" I get a lot of stares and people laughing. But I just laugh at them and think to myself, I have a vehicle for every situation that I want, and they're all paid for. :D
I'm gonna get a license ring for my Chevy II that says my other car is a slow ass Bug, and one for the Bug that says my other car runs 10's. |

| People out here seem to like to pull out right in front of me when I've finally got up to speed... and I ALWAYS drive with my lights on. If they knew what my car had for braking power, I'd sure they'd wait that extra 3 seconds for me to pass by. |

Bad syncros is not due to downshifting. Sounds like whomever this "wise man" was is the kind who has tried to tell me in the past, "Going over railroad tracks wears out the ball joints".
ok, then what wears them out? and why is it always 2nd, the most down shifted to gear,
It's the most up shifted to gear. |

So adding a post that whines about whiners could be filed under "irony" or "other"? |

I think in the R file for 'retard'. |

I think people disrespect bugs on the road because the guy in the passenger seat just slugged the driver in the shoulder and shouted SLUG-BUG! in his ear, so now he's all pissed and driving crazy.
But yeah I get cut off all the time by A-holes. |

I now have a dash cam, which I can alternatively mount in my MG, the VW, the Olds, the Honda Accord (my better half's), or on one of my two motorcycles.
In the past six months, I've noticed...
Pretty typical stupidity around the Honda. The occasional cut-off or pull-out, or tailgater.
Absolutely no difference in the way people behave around either my VW or the '66 Olds, but they both get cut off more than the Honda - tailgating or pull-outs are about the same.
More people -do- (I can prove it!) pull out in front, cut off, tailgate, or otherwise seem to ignore or overlook me when I'm in the MG, in spite of the ballasted xenon HIDs and full compliment of ultra-bright LED replacement-type bulbs. Small size = slower perceived speed? Maybe just the fact some wannabe-redneck idiot thinks it's funny his 743-inch lift kit-equipped, street-only, detailed-chassis, OPEC-sponsored SUV would roll right over me without touching anything? Dunno. I just know the number of these incidents nearly doubles in the MG. It gets the most smiles, thumbs, and waves of the crew, however, so it balances out. Sort of.
People are absolute imbeciles when it comes to bikers, unless they themselves are bikers. Pull-outs, no signals, tailgating... name it. Out of the group, this is by far the most dangerous vehicle to drive, and it ain't got shit to do with my skill level, staying within the law, equipment, or maintenance. Some folks even seem to have a vendetta against bikes.
Just my observations. It seems to be a small-or-old vehicle thing more than anything else.
Regarding 'slug-bugs'? I deliberately drive by the schools here a few times, just to get some poor kid a bruised shoulder. |

Here in CO there is much love for the beetle for everyone that says something snoty or sh*ty to me there are 3 that randomly walk up to me and start recalling their years with beetlez or how they used to own one back in the day. I find that if someones following me to closely i simply pull it out of gear and slow down real good then just start layin on the gas blasting my stinger(with no baffle)and i find this method very effective especially on soccer moms on their phones(also a great way to alert hott chicks of your presence). im in high school now also and its always great during lunch sitting in the parking lot to see all the other kids with their little ricers and pos blarring their stereos and their crappy exhausts i simply pull up next to them turn my stereo up twice as loud as theirs and procced with 5 minutes of revving  that always shuts them up but personally my favorite part of my beetle is when i see little kids sluggin each other when they see me or like today while i was workin on the bug and out of nowhere i here "NICE SLUGBUG MISTER" and that right their i dont matter who you are will put a smile on your face!!!!
ps dont hate on fat chicks their bugs too!!!!
pss Its still ok not to like "new beetles" |

Here in South Florida, I find most people mystified about my 79 SB Convert...I get lots of thumbs up... not bird sign if you know what I mean and stopped at traffic light or parking lot, I hear lots of VW stories as they roll their eyes and recall they college days or what ever...(everyone has a VW story!) when a few do get on my ass I just put in 4th gear, turn up the Beach Boys and go slower.

I'm 16 and I have a baja, and most people like it. Although a friend of a friend saw my car and was like "you seriously drive that piece of shit?" and before Ive had a freshman who was all just like " Volkswagen's suck" but he was extremely imature and he didn't drive anyway so......
On the other hand, Iv had several good experience. I've had at least like 5 hott girls tell me they loved my bug since I've had my lisence, which has only been like 2 months.
A friend of mine couldn't believe it when he saw it, he said "seriously this is yours? you are so lucky! you must get so many chicks with this thing, it's so awesome! :D |

| Of course people see a bug, and feel the need to pass me, regardless of the speed limit. I'll be doing like 5 over, and they'll just fly past me. |

Bugs can be chick magnets.
As I was circling the parking garage looking for a spot, one of the hottest gals *evar* saw me and waved. After I parked she stopped me and said, “Oh, your car is so cute! Are you an old hippie or something?”
I’ve been dutifully shaving ever since. |

Well that makes me feel a little better. I have had one or two girls say they like my car but I wouldn't say they were hot haha. |

This morning on my way to work:
On the highway some punk in a Jeep Wrangler flew up behind me and passed me in one fluid motion. He didn't get stuck behind me or anything...there were two lanes to my left and he used the middle one to pass me.
As he went by, he scowled at me and FLIPPED ME OFF! I was taken aback; I've never seen him before in my life, nor his Jeep. I have no idea why he did that. It must be a Jeep thing, I guess I just don't understand. I was curising at 65-70mph, not going slow or anything.
That seriously pissed me off today :2gunfire: |

Yeah, I drive a '73 super which is kinda rough looking right now, yet it's a better conversation starter with females than a st. bernard with a tragic limp. |

| I just don't think people remember/know how driving a carburated car is anymore. just cause your f150 can pick up with the tap of the pedal doesn't mean my little bug can. |

I pulled a Jeep out of a snow bank once with my Beetle, he must have heard about it. He's probably been shown up by a Baja too. :D |
