Hey guys, I am going to start of by letting you know that I know nothing about water-cooled VW's. I come from air cooled buses. When I was up at my local VW used parts place they had a new VW for sale and I’m looking for a daily driver for the winter
right now.
1996 VW GTi
156,000 Miles
Small amount of surface rust on wheel well
Clean interior
The guys didn't know where the keys where or how much the owner was asking and it was locked so I couldn't take it for a drive or look under the hood. So my question for you guys is, how much would this car be worth, I know you can't tell me exactly, but for a stock GTi. Also if regular tune ups does this car have a lot of miles left on it? What are some of the normal problems with these cars? Anything really that you could tell me to watch out for or anything in general would be greatly appreciated
Sorry about the poor picture quality, its at night and on a cell phone

I think you would have the best luck posting your question at the waterpumper forums..

| Book on that car is from 3k-5k with those miles. It all depends on how well it was taken care of. Should have many many miles left. Just picked ip a 96 GTI myself in pristine condition for $3200. So check it out and start low maybe $2500. Then tune it up, and replace the timming belt, that seems to be the biggest problem with them. |

| 4 cylinder or VR6 engine will also make a big difference in price |
