There are only 2 rust spots on the frame.

Well it looks good and as soon as I ask a few questions the salesman says" you know they just sold a few of these at auctions"....... how much are you asking $110K so I look it over, take a few pictures got the M-code plate, it is a 21 window, east coast bus with unknown paint and interior code 524900, maybe I'm just mad i can not afford one like this but $110K and it has the wrong engine, wrong middle seat, and no gear shift knob! And states it has 11K orginal miles. OK

http://www.rosnermotorsports.com/1965-volkswagen-21.htm

524900 is a special paint code (not the same as 424271)
listed on this site as possibly pearl white.
For a 65, I'd think mesh grey interior would be correct.

aero baleric was one of the 66-67 color choices.
Some people geek out on single color deluxes. I don't think this bus is worth more than a two tone one.

But that interior is a repro,
has bay middle seat,
no armrest on drivers wall,
rips in driver seat side,
wrinkled headliner,
no fabric on front seat bulkhead
wire around steering column?
column bracket painted wrong color
shift bell painted wrong color
If a 65 has the later grab handles installed on the cab doors.

does not look like an 11,000 mile bus.
not to mention incorrect door handle orientation.

I am not sure that 110K is a fair price, but it looks good to the average person and I am sure it is good advertising for the dealership.
If I was them I would put a high price on it as well.

Yeah, but in it's favor you get a bent turn signal stalk, a used 3' plastic tie wrap around the steering column and shifter (no knob) and that cool zoomy four tip exhaust (mega-rare T2 M-code for that one).

Is it me or have driver quality double cabs gone up 2-3 times what they were about five years ago?

I don't see many selling for big$$ but the people who own them sure think so.

Yea I agree. that is a good one and priced reasonably, but some of the others I see are just silly. when one sells I will get excited cuz I have a 61 DC

That's not even a driver, read the ad. I'd look that bus over in person before I paid that kind of coin for a driveway trophy.

Very cool truck, but without it being turn-key ready, it seems that the ask should be about half.

I don't understand why someone would try to sell a VW as non running. If he spent some time or just paid someone to get it running he could get so much more out of it.

c21darrel Fri Dec 19, 2014 12:57 pm

more than $25K?

There are a lot of reasons. Maybe the seller isn't good at repairs, has no time or just doesn't want to put any more money in it? You never know.

What would a shop in the bay area charge to make it a daily driver? Would he get change back from 10K?

All good points, then again I do all my own work for the reason of having no money, but if he was really wanting to get the asking price I would expect something that can move on its own. I'm sure there are reasons but something that complete and close would be worth it.
