Make a strong offer? $3,000 is fair...

I don't car that it is a 21 window. It will take atleast $30,000 for restoration...

it's listed here as well

Ad corrected. It now reads as a 65 bus.

They are a VW junkyard and whoever runs it knows very little about buses. They had a post on facebook trying to identify the year of a 13w bus. They thought it was like a '58.

Their feedback thread is an interesting read.

I don't normally like deluxe buses, but a solid pearl white 21...now THAT'S cool! Reminds me of a really nice original paint pearl white 63' 23....

Interesting. Back in the early 90's, I bought a complete deluxe roof from him for something like $200; everything went perfectly. Several months later, I tried to buy a roof rack, and I got excuse after excuse why it hadn't shipped, and finally I did get a rack that was garbage.

I've heard some horror stories about this guy/shop.

vwbusman66 Thu Apr 23, 2015 6:16 pm

Reminds me of the people down in alabama that keep trying to sell like 50 buses

Ran When Parked Thu Apr 23, 2015 7:22 pm

Crap.

Another one found right in my back yard. I need to put up a S. Birds VW website and wait for the emails to come in once a year.

I know the guy and I doubt he is finding them, they must be finding him. I could a used that bus for $300.

End whine.

1967 21 Split Window Price: $35000

This Bus is already on this site from the real seller for $50K
http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=1776971

Hah, funny thing is I was about to post it in the whines when it was listed at $35k! Who pays even $35k for a fake 21 window hack-a-saurus Rex?? $50k is plain nuts.

I wouldn't know where to start whining about this one...reading the ad alone hurt my head and made me twitch a bit. I know buses are hot, and one sold at auction, etc., etc., but c'mon 'restorers' - make some semblance of an attempt to not recreate an 80's-style explosion of bad taste, terrible upholstery, etc., if you're gonna tell us how it 'Appraised for $80,000 & Will IncreAse In ValUe', etc..... If shitty bulkhead coverings and overstuffed, unpainted bay seats are the reason you're not asking the full value, then why not say so in the ad.

Here a whine about it... they cut up an SO-42 to make a fake 21.
FWIW, an SO-42 cost more when new.

no belly pans
no heater tube
no switch for rear dome light
etc

these things in the ad confuse me:
Quote: Generator not New, But Functioning
Alternator
Quote: Sky Light Bullet Lens

this is not a top notch resto.

Wow.... I guess they thought it was easier to convert it to a 21 than find all the original camping interior and bits.

Ya, well if it was a gutted westy. Also today, a 21 is worth much more than an SO-42 in same condition.

Price List from September 15 1965
model 23129 - camper - $3164
model 2412 - deluxe station wagon with sunroof - $2577

But a fake 21 isn't worth as much as a restored camper.

^^^ only to us. Certainly not to the crowd that shops for that caliber of "restoration."

55samba Fri Apr 24, 2015 1:34 pm

I can see people paying for a nice conversion, many are converting buses as that is what many people want. Maybe not on this forum though.

This one looks like a street beat ragtop kit to me? Makes me wonder if there is even a sky light window structure or just a holes there?

If a genuine 21 is $100k lets say, I can see someone paying $50k for a well built clone. People do it in the American hot rod market. Hopefully anyone looking at this consults with a knowledgeable person and completes a thorough inspection.

Palm Green Vent Cover Price: $150 obo

This seems a little pricey but only because I bought one for $3 last month. It was in better shape too. Hell, I gave the guy $5 even though he asked for 3.

Still,I bet this sells. Seems high unless you can find the right guy.

Hmm. :?
Real cool project but it's a HUGE project. I see the driver seat but who knows what else is included with the bus. Missing engine, transmission, torsion housing (included just not connected ;) )
But still listed as condition 2
HAHA
