I have a puddle of oil that is by the distributor next to the engine, and it looks like there is oil seeping from under the coolant port. Ive noticed my oil light blinking when it is warmed up and at an idle. Is this a big problem, and is it something that I can fix. Whats your opinion. Thanks
The engine is a 1.8 in a 90' Golf |

Your high speed oil pressure warning system (light and buzzer) haven't gone off have they?
The idle-speed oil pressure light is probably a bad switch, but it would not be a bad idea to have someone double check what the oil pressure really is. The low pressure switch is the one sticking out of the end of the cylinder head, and your oil leak could be coming from there as well. About the only other places oil could come from to get there would be from the head gasket, or the oil filter flange - it's on this flange that your other oil pressure warning switch is located, by the way. |
