View original topic: Auto Trans leak and vaccuum ?

I have a guy who wants to sell me a 70 squareback automatic. I'm interested, except I know nothing of the automatics. The mechanic who currently has the car says it runs and shifts fine, but loses about a quart of ATF from between the engine and transmission every week. Is this a reasonably easy fix. Is there a rubber seal around the automatic input shaft like on a standard or is it toatally different?

While i'm at it, would a 1776 with engle 110 retain a close enough to stock vacuum signal to work with the fuel injection and Auto trans?

Thanks
Lee

The fluid leak is probably the torque converter seal. Not a big deal once the engine is out.
As for the cam, as you can read from the other thread, leave the cam stock, and you can even keep the stock FI, with a few minor teaks to the fuel pressure. The FI, and the automatic likes the cam to be stock.
