Can anyone tell me if chrome tail lights on splits were stock on some bugs or after-market?.....If stock what years?

Thanks

I've been told in the past that chrome housings were only available as an aftermarket accessory. There was a small write up in Volksworld a few years back on this subject. I can't remember what they said. Good question, I've been wondering the same thing. I need a set of split tail lights. I only have the housings and nothing else.

I wonder if the chrome ones are seen as more desirable or not!...Any thoughts?

I've never saw them as attractive, but rather distractive. Who wants to make tail lights the focal point of your car. Now if you had chrome all over your car........that's a different style and they might be part of an overall look you wanted.

This style of look you speak of... I believe 'they' refer to it as *bling* *bling*.

I feel the same way. I kind of like the brake light housing or the popes nose chrome. But all three is to much for me.

My fault........I'm showing my age again. Lee Marvin played that character in the 1965 western, Cat Ballou. He was a gunfighter who had a silver nose because his nose had been shot off. Funny, funny movie.....check it out. http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00004TJQK/102-0873790-8054534?v=glance&n=130

My wife would put a foot in my butt if I were to bring that movie into our house. She's still mad at me for making her watch Blazzin Saddles. I'm not allowed to pick out movies anymore.
