Does anyone out there collect old German Mags? I am slowly getting hooked on them. I just recieved my latest 3 Gute Fahrts and Auto mags. In one of them is coverage of the 1961 Fankfurt Auto Show and in the other is the first test drive back in June 61 of a notchback! Great pics through out them all.

The only issue I have:
I have a blanket that looks just like the one in the picture...I mean EXACTLY! King size and bought in Tiajuana for $13US. Full price, no haggling. That was back in 1987 after finishing boot camp in San Diego and it still is keeping me and my girlfriend cozy-n-warm  |

| That's an early square! Notice no bolts showing on the rear bumper. I wonder where Frank will find those. Cool mags |

And a REAL early Notch. They hadn't even started including bodies and passenger seats!

In the center? That's the license light access plate.
What are the black circles on the left and right sides though?
Anti-vibration rubber? |

Hopefully it has good stuff since it turned out to be pretty expensive. |

| Nice score EV. Please post pics when it arrives. Looks to be in really good condition. Those rubber snubbers appear to be adjustable by the screw in the middle. Perhaps to make the fit tight and like you said anti-vibe. |

I bought a bundle of Gute Fahrt magazines a few years ago when the dollar was strong. I sold all but the ones that had Type 3 covers. Made about 4 times my money, but I wish I had them back now
Anyway here's my collection. Sorry for those of you with dial-up (is there anyone left like that), but at least I'm not posting the pictures that are 700K plus each
Everett...There are full size scans of all of these magazine covers in the same directory I put the "thing" stuff in. Grab them if you want for the site.
I only have one left without a Type 3 cover. I guess I missed it when I was clearing them out. I looked through it and found this little item:
Loosely translated, it says that VW is introducing a Variant that has sheet metal instead of glass so you can toss your tools in and not worry about breaking things. The magazine is the July '63 issue, so I guess the panel wasn't introduced until about that time. |
