Can this be done and how complicated is to redo the brakes. I want to slam some nice set of crome wheels on my 1967 1.2 l Bug but are with 4 bolts for the later model. Can I change the brake drums from like 1972 on a 1967?

You can swap front drums by using the '67 inner wheel bearings. I think '68 rear drums are a direct fit but can't find my notes.

Where are you from? Lets do a swap. I have a 67 that I bought a 72 roller for. Im switching all the 4 bolt to wide 5. Even swapping out the IRS for the swing. Can you say camber? \:D/ I think the wheel bearings will do you right in front. Are you buying drop spindles? In the rear I think you have to use the spacer from the 67 and put it on the outside of the drum.....I may be wrong here but thats what you need to do to put the wide 5 drum on the IRS. Not to sure on the 5 to 4 but Ive researched the 4 to 5.

have 5/8" cut off snout of rear 68--> brake drums to mount on 67 and older short spline. use outer rear bearing spacer between drum and nut to mount short spline drums on 68--> rear long spline.
