View original topic: installing beam HELP!!!

After much research on how to narrow an l/p beam, I have finally finished it. I narrowed it 4.5 inches (from the outside) no shock towers, installed sway-a-way adjusters and welded in some supports on the outside edges. My bushings arrived today, and I installed them at all four points (very tight fit). I installed the newly narrowed beam after a fresh coat of urethane black rattle can and snugged up the bolts after coated with loc-tite. At this point, I was very excited to finish up and see the new stance. I began to re-insert to ends into the beam, and they will just not go in at all. I can get them started into the beam about 1/2 an inch, and after that, nothing but swinging the rubber mallet for no reason. Note, I have the drum attached with the components that insert into the beam. Should I take the drum and spindle off and then try to hammer them in??

Am I going about this wrong, or do I need to upgrade to a BFH????
