Interesting, I thought it was a modern 'generation' of the 166c.

Ive ordered tools from the SamstagSales site before, and on their assistant page, they say that an Assistant is still available. Are they refering to the old style, (without the notches for the wheels like on the 166N) or is it still possible to buy a 'new' 166c like the one pictured on their site?

This is the old style cart, 166N:

This is the new style cart, 166C:

The 162C is the new style cart but without the folding uprights.

I consider the 166C the replacement for the 166N since they have the same folding arm arrangement.

Not lame, Ive used these guys before. Theyre a bit on the expensive side I suppose, but they were the first I found, and they had the stuff I wanted. It arrived with no hassel. I also bought several tools form them.

Hello,

the 166C is not the replacement for the 166N as both of them are still in production. The 166C was designed 50% larger to allow the use of the Hazet tool logic system. I have both items in my Ebay store so you can see what I mean.

Hope that clarifies a little.

This is what I heard from a friend of mine at Hazet:

Hazet had originally planned on replacing the 166N with the 166C. They removed the 166N from their catalog and offered special pricing for the 166N when the 166C was introduced to clear inventory of the 166N. The special went so well, and with the feedback not-so-good on the 166C, they decided to keep the 166N and put it back in the catalog.

This is exactly the right story. They have been doomed to be discontinued several times, but they still sell very well so they keep coming back as long as the deep drawing tools last. This could finally be the end when tooling has to be renewed, so better get one while supplies last ;-)

In my eyes the 166C is more convenient, as it is much larger, but then again you might get a 172HD right away. I just shipped one of those and at 100 lbs that's a pain to put in a box, poor UPS guy ;-)

Hi guys, I just bought this "Tool Caddy" at a thrift store. There are alot of similarities to the Hazet Assistent and I read in this post that Hazet made a red Caddy model. What do you guys think?

I got this cart from Germany a few weeks back. Gray top, blue knob, straight uprights, continental tires, stool hole in the bottom container. It's probably from the early 70's:

Just got a 166N i think from a great pal who let my wife by it for our anniversary. He pulled it from a salvage yard by the crusher. The operator said he knew it was something cool so he set it back. He gave scrap weight for tin....I'll get pics. Didn't know there were so many types. Mine has folding legs and Hazet badge. Post later. DBGM stamped by leg?

This is my Assistent, can't really make out the model and year, but it's old judging by the rust and the worn out rubber wheels.I'm planning to do do a resto on this one, soon as I have time.
Btw,I got it for free. :D

i ogt this hazet "mini assi 160" at a swap meet a couple weeks ago.

i posted it in the hazet sticky thread. not sure if anyone saw it.

any info is appreciated. it'll be my light duty and oil change tool caddy.
