Here are mine:

Pre '65, post '65 and a 171.

whats the name of the one on the right?

Assistent but its model 171

I think the earlier cart on the left is actually a combination of old and new. The bottom container and wheels are old but the top looks newer or repainted. It should be hammer-tone silver in color. Either way, nice line-up.

A friend picked it up for me yesterday as the seller wouldnt send via a couriour. Havent seen it in the flash yet but looks like a resto is on the cards.

It was closed when my mate picked it up, hes opened it but cant shut it now............

Need dimensions for a stool and locking bar now??

Anyone able to fill in any info on this for me. Its looks like its always been silver top and black/blue knobs. The arms dont fold and im looking for some dimensions for a locking bar and stool (anchovy).
Cheers

Its been repainted at some stage. I might give the top tray a new hammerite treatment at some point to make it look original again.

And here is my latest, just picked it up! 8)

I think this is the newest of them all. Are double casters in front original or later replacement by previous owner?

Anchovy Wed Feb 08, 2012 3:17 pm

That one is newer production, 1990's or 2000's, but not the most recent. It still has the "Assistent" script. This is dropped on the newest production. Double front casters are original issue from Hazet on that model.

You are building up quite a stable.

I'll work on getting lock bar dimensions this weekend along with seat frame dimensions. I think I still have some seat tops if you are interested.

I think the top on your cart is probably gray. When you get it, check the bottom side for color. I think it is mid-70's.

Anchovy Sun Feb 12, 2012 8:49 pm

As promised, here are some photos, dimensions and details of the reproduction stool I sold a while back.

The seat was made out of birch plywood covered with a thin foam pad and black vinyl.

The frame is welded steel. I couldn't get metric tubing easily in the US so I turned down some larger pipe and plugged the ends. The legs are welded a t-shaped frame made of rectangular stock. I milled a tight fit hole through the stock and then welded the three legs in place. The leg assembly is then screwed to the wood base. (Note: my design is not like the original which had bent tubing and rough welds. I think my design is sturdier...but more work and cost to make.

I have 2 covered seats and one bare seat left from when I made the reproductions. No frames left.

Here are some photos:

Legs are about 30.5 cm tall from the bottom of the seat.

Rear legs are about 20.5 cm center-to-center.

Rear leg to front leg is about 18 cm center-to-center.

The rectangular stock is about 2.5 cm wide.

Acquired November 2011. My swap-meet find Assistent began with a decent amount of surface rust. C-L-R works wonders.

Picked up my trolley at the weekend. Cleared out all the crap that the PO had left in it, freed up the black/blue knobs and have given it a good squirt of WD40 and will go and check on it tomorrow.
It all looks good. Its got a flat spot on one tyre (the brake had been left on) but everything else looks good. Will strip the wheels to get all the crap out from around the axels etc.
It looks like it hasnt got a hole for the stool so will skip on that thanks Anchovy, but the locking bar dimensions would be very helpful.

Next question.........to paint or not to paint??

A friend scored this for me off of ebay.de

http://www.ebay.de/itm/Werkstattwagen-Hazet-/25099...500wt_1202

as well as a Hazet 190L box.

Can't wait to get them. He's going to bring them over on the 40' container he has coming back with him.. Can't wait to restore the Assistent. I'm probably going to stick all of my metric tools in it and use the 190L for junk yard runs.

Mines at the blasters and the paint is mixed and ready to go. Stripped wheels down and took out about 5 feet of twine and crap. Just need some nice new chain and a locking bar.
Back to work tomorrow for 3 weeks so it will have to wait.

^^  That is so cool! that would've taken ages to make 8)

Hi

Can anyone please help me date my Assistent. I know it should be blue and there are signs of that under the awful red. It has a hole for the stool.

I bought this ages ago, sold it and then bought it back. Dont use it for tools but its ideal storage. Have some NOS wheels and was going to restore it and use it in the house!

Thanks

G

My guess would be 70's, probably early 70's. I'm no expert though.

Anchovy Mon Apr 16, 2012 9:16 am

I'd say Nick is right on with the era for your cart. It has the upper case "A" in Hazet so post 1965...still has the embossed badge so not very new.

Hi Everyone,
I was already a fan of Hazet tools, and when I found the Hazet Assistent thread, I had to post the TS model I just scored recently. It really is amazing. The stuff I've heard about wobbly trays is not present on this model. Once you tighten down the knobs the whole thing is solid. Also, with the pillars stowed in the tubes on the side, the form factor is even better than the newer models with the folding ones. All in all, I am perplexed why this one didn't become the model that survived. Here are some pics:

With the self-locking top:

The portability design with the pillar storage tubes on the side is too cool:

Did you photoshop that? That is the prettiest rust I've ever seen! :D
