Lowered with beam adjusters and 1 outer spline at the back.
Damn , that looks really nice. How does it ride? Any more pictures? I am seriously thinking about lowering mine. I am just tired of the wind blowing me around. |

Not sure what your specific question is, but...
'55-'67 Link Pin
'68-'79 Ball Joint
'55-'69 have same bolt pattern at frame mounting point.
'70-'79 different bolt pattern than the earlier style.
'55-'63 early spindles, brakes more expensive.
'63-'67 late spindles, cheaper brakes. (preferred spindle to run on an LP conversion)
*Note '63 is a transition year*
'55-'70 drum brakes.
'71-'79 disc brakes.
'63-'79 have the same spindle shaft, so you can mount disc brakes on late drum spindles with a bracket to mount the caliper. |

That info has been in my head for years, I just never thought to put it out there. After seeing it laid out like that, it makes more sense and is a valuable reference point for future users.
I will add this, the 70-79 beams can be re-drilled to mount up to the 69 and earlier frame. I have not done it, but I have seen it done. |

fastwagens, thanks that is what i did. Crazy what you have to do for low. Like you always say "form over function" nice. I might go lower but will have to narrow beam wagenswest spindles a little wider. Thanks chad

They NEVER responded to any of my follow up emails or phone calls either....which started 10days after I ordered them thru their website. My experience with waiting was frustrating and their customer service was terrible in my case.
Given that, the spindles are good quality and the install went smoothly. If you have replaced ball joints before then the installation will be very familiar. Make sure to check the clearance afterwards between the bottom of your ball joint bolt and the inside of your rim. Mine were rubbing so I filed them down a bit...just to right before the threads start. They still rub a bit when im cornering so I may order some 3/8" spacers that I saw at www.jbugs.com for about $55 --basically flat spacer plates that go between the hub and the wheel.
Pics!
Did you lower the rear any? if so how much?
I havent lowered the rear yet....I was thinking id lower the back a couple clicks but I probably wont get to it for awhile. I dont want to end up with the bus having an upwards rake towards the front again so just a small drop in the back is all I want. |
