I haven't made it out to one of the meetings yet, but I am looking forward to it. I have a '72 deluxe that I am working on right now and want it to have a similiar stance as your ride. I will make sure to introduce myself if I make it out.

stock height

front lowered with avis bug adjusters, tack welded in lowered position to prevent any slipping

rear end lowered enough notches to make it even, with cut bump stops. rides just as good as stock. Also got most of that green house paint pressure washed off. got some mean patina growing on the nose

Sweet bus, What year.

Chad that is a sick bus 8)

If you pull the leaves out of the middle the grub screws won't have anything to hold the arms in place.

Leave the three middle ones top/bottom, pull all the rest and see where that puts you.

Hey Breadloafdeluxe. The bay you sold me is coming along nicely! It is getting a wheel stud conversion and a new canvas top right now. Soon it goes away for media blasting and then gets fresh paint!

beetle98 Tue Oct 27, 2009 8:44 am

hoosiers08, Thanks it is slow go but i am getting there i hope. Here is another shot. I have wide 5 u plates in back and wagenswest 2.5 spindles and adjusters in front. Chad

fastwagens Tue Oct 27, 2009 9:11 am

I've got some questions. I'm a bit new to this VW stuff. I've checked out the website for years, but haven't owned an air cooled VW yet. I'm currently looking for a Bay window to slam. Something cheap. There are a few local ones that i'm looking at, but i'm taking my time. School, family, and work take all of my fun time right now.

Can you take the beam off a Bay and have it narrowed and throw in an adjuster like you can with an air cooled bug? I'm just checking this stuff out because it sure seems like it's way cheaper to slam a bug than a bus. I've read most of the posts on this thread, and i didn't see anything on taking off your current beam and getting it narrowed and an adjuster thrown in. Just wanted to make sure i couldn't do that before i spent the phat cash on one from Wagonswest or someone else.

Give me some info. Anything and everything is appreciated. Like i said, i'm pretty new to the air cooled stuff.
