I've gone through pretty much all of them. Don't remember seeing anything on taking off the current beam and narrowing it.

I did skip some pages though. Got a little overboard with the arguing in one section about the green bus.

Thanks for the link. Definitely looks like more work than i can accomplish. And i don't know if i trust any of my welding buddy's to do it right the first time. Looks like i'll just buy one when i get a bay.

hi to everyone im new on here from the uk, im thinking of narrowing my 73 beam, whats involved do i just cut of original towers, and then weld in new end plates, obviously i'll need to shorten leaves & track rods,i do all my own work has anyone got plans or drawings for end plates ,would 10mm plate be thick enough, and how do you determine how much to narrow it as its governed by width of chassis??? any help would be ace cheers.

So who is sporting wagenwests new Link pin 3.5in dropped spindles, rather than the 2.5in dropped spindles?

Where wold you buy the Foksy Beam Adjuster? Looked on google with no luck

edit: I found the "Wagenswest BEEF CAKE bus beam adjusters"

http://www.thesamba.com/vw/classifieds/detail.php?id=832840

Is there a thread on how these work/install/etc? Search function under bay window led me to two threads with no responses

hi soviet1942 you can get foksy adjusters from bluebird customs here in the uk, ive had one on my bay for 6 years with no problems at all,you can get a god 6 inch drop easily,i use mine as a daily driver i do roughly 16000 mile a year so its had good use, there one of the original adjusters, fits to top bar so you keep suspension on lower bar so improved ride quality, excellent piece of kity

Soviet1942 Mon Nov 23, 2009 11:29 am

Thanks for the info. Also, has anyone made their own horse shoe plates? I was looking at the ones on wagenwest and they look pretty simple. Is there anything more to a horse plate that its looks? Just looks like metal and some bolts.

Soviet, There is an offset to the plate from the top and bottom so everything stays square. I bought mine from Widefive. Chad
