Structural rust is a major problem; as the convertible Rabbit/Cabriolet has no roof structure, the rockers & floor areas are more crucial. All of the convertibles were German-made, so they were well-made when new....but how they were cared for can make a ton of difference nowadays.
Mechanical parts for them are a snap - most everything is shared with the Rabbit, Scirocco, and pre-'85 Jettas.
Body seals(top/doors, etc) are generally expensive, 'dealer only' items; also they are specific to the convertibles. |
