Looks to be in great shape!

Why was it free?

Well it doesn't run....but that's no biggie. I plan to heve her up and on the road within the next 2 weeks. That and the people we got her from are moving and they didn't want to deal with trying to sell it. They live out in the middle of nowhere and they'd have a hard time selling it in their location.

I'm such a proud mama!

Hey maybe you guys can help me! Since I am new to this breed of Vw, I am un familiar with all the ammenities availble to me. Firstly, What do all the knobs and buttons do on the dash? Obviously I know one is the headlights and one is hazard flashers(which doesn't work?). But what about the rest? Also where are the high beams on this little one? I searched all over the car yesterday and I was unable to find a switch, knob, or lever that may turn them on...any help would be great!

Here is the manual for your car

Read it over and I can probably fill in any gaps.

SHE'S ALIVE!!!! Just got her running this weekend! Changed the oil,and the gas... new fuel filter, spark plug wires, cap and rotor, and she fired right up!!! God I love hese little machines! Only thing is is that she's only firing on 3...I'm going to replace the points and condenser and see what that does. We had to adjust the timing a huge amount. It was retarted off about 25degrees.

I drove it around the other day to get it titled get new tags, drives really well. Need to get a replacment pannel for the battery tray. I just noticed yesterday that the battery was about to take a trip down the road via under my car!

Still can't get the wipers to work though... any tips? I replaced all the fuses and stuff. can't figure it out.

i'm not much of a fan of 70's, but that thing is in excellent condition and you cant bet the price of 0 dollars. good luck with that one , looks like you got a good starter.

Personally I didn't care much for anything that was past 64, but getting this little buggie has partially changed my mind. Still has al the fun things I loved about my 63, but is almost like a real car....rear window defrost, front fresh air vents, 3 point harnesses... stuff like that.

I'm still getting my 60 and that will be my baby, but this is good for an everyday driver!

You should be glad to own a 70 beetle. It has a 1600 single port which is bullet proof, IRS suspension, ball joints, 12 volt electrics, and best of all cheap/easy to find spare parts. Good luck.
