After a lot of work..
It drives!!!
Last summer I bought a scruffy '58 ragtop to replace my slammed '69..
It was repainted once or twice or whatever and an overall welded up but solid car.
The beginning
As I just couldn't see myself driving it on this 4x4 status the work began!
What did I do?
Compleet suspension and drum-to-drum overhaul, new interior (TMI covers and o.g. panels) removed indicators, electrics, replaced gearbox, 2" narowed beam, blasted and painted wheels, new shocks and so on, and so on...
The works:
ratlle can job on welded up indicator holes!
cleaned gearbox, I changed the axle boots for solids!!!
And the result:
This picture is from it's 200 mile testdrive on the day after I got it done!!!!
It was early, the back sag a lot during the day!
Pretty cool huh?
Maybe you saw it on a other topic but you can check out this movie I made for my club www.theundutchables.nl for it's first drive on it's new ride height!!!

In person it's slightly visible because the filler set in after a while.
However, the color match is 100%.
Not bad for a can I just had laying around!!!! |

Elvis Aaron Stok........you know I don't like Beetles, but European big window Rag Top Beetles.........I LIKE! This is the only model of Beetle I'd like to have. Maybe a Zwitter too! I don't remember if I saw it while passing through Delft on my way visiting my families tac-que-ria in the city center of Utrecht??? That bug will look bad ass on CRABS!!!
Gibbs and I are both orchestrating a trip out to Holland next year, touring with the 3rd Panzer Division, both BUDEL & BAD CAMBERG! Though I would like to cook up a typical peasant Mekkie dish while out there! Or outside of your garage. Give the Chinese Restaurant a run for it's cash!! I will bring the sauces/spices, tortillas, rice and beans for a Mekkie Fiesta!!
Shit, word may get out and aside of the 3rd Panzer Division being there, we maybe visited by the LUFTWAFFE & Zee U-BOAT units as well. Though the guest of honor and MC will be with no doubt, the liberator of the free world, Humanitarian, Lecturer, Philosopher & Reicht leader of the 3rd Panzer Division..................HERR OSKAR SCHINDLER!!!! VERSTEN SIE MICH!!! Though this time I will get CHU CHO (Jesus - the lost Mekkie in Berlin, Germany) to come out to Holland and hangout with us!! |

Bring the french, german/mekkie and some BDM members when

We'll have a garage-doorstep cook-out (people do that out here, REALLY!) and I'll hook up the DVD-player on to the TV that I have in the garage so we can watch "Der Untergang" while we enjoy some of your Carne ascada!

For sure the French Kid and I will be there. Who knows who else will tag along. I remember the last time while in Delft, your next door neighbors, the college kids, were partying outside on the side walk. They had a couch outside. Remember that one? Then Elvis & Schmotzie were boning too! VERSTEHEN SIE MICH!! |
