Can anyone help?
Im trying to buy a split from the States to bring to the UK. Does anyone know anybody that can help, or they have dealt with before?
I dont really know how to go about this so any sort of help or advice would be great!

Hi
I am in the same position. I just bought a '63 via the Samba from Portland OR and trying to find someone who can ship back to the UK at a reasonable cost. Luckily my brother-in-law lives in Portalnd but I am worried he is going to get too attached to my van.
I have contacted a few US and UK shipping agents and am awaiting quotes and would be happy to pass details to you.
If you find any useful contacts please let me know.

| Hi I have heard a few people say they use kingston shipping in Hull to import from the U.S.A. If you google that name it should turn up somthing hope this helps. Mark |

Thanks for the advice. I spoke to Kingston Shipping (www.kingstonshipping.co.uk, tel 01482 374116) who have brought quite a few vans back to the UK (Thamesport, Kent).
They gave me a far more competative quote than others I spoke to, even allowing for the cost of transporting from Portland to Oakland Dock by road ($700). I have been getting vastly differing advice on import duties and VAT (i.e. cost!) but again Kingston seems to have this sorted with Customs.
Anyway, the estimated cost of shipping back to the UK is just over £2,000 with all duties paid which I think still makes it cheaper than buying in the UK. I have now accepted their quote and will report back on the whole experience when Purple Haze arrives in a month or two.
Thanks again for the contact.
