I couldn't let this straight 67 baja go to the crusher or be cut up for parts. So, I've decided to return it to its former stock glory. Check back to see its transformation...
removed the baja kit, removed most of the the glass (front/rear windshield, pop-outs), gutted the interior
started DA'ing rear quater panel, roof
rear clip in need of a new one, rear baja fenders removed
clean dash
It's really in good shape, so far we haven't run into any bondo. All the panels are pretty straight. and the roof was almost perfect. I will be painting it java green as it once was.
not too bad of a start for the first day at it

| Why not just swap that body over to the pan with the title? A lot less work that way. |

At first, I wanted to build the the black one but the roof is all dented up around the right side of the windshield. It looks like a small tree might have fell on it. It would be really hard to get it straight enough for a windshield to fit. Also, the black one has seriously rusted out heater channels and floors from sitting for 10 years without front glass.
They weren't from a salvage yard, that's just the storage lot they were in over the winter. I got them from an old man who had them sitting in a field for 10 years.
Dennis, I'd really like some help! What are you doing on Sat?
Last night we finished the body work on two rear fenders and the decklid. Also almost have the body ready for primer.

The body shell is primered and ready now for the aprons.
We pulled the donor car from the field today (thanks Growler and Steve). It's a pain to move a car onto a trailer when there's no wheels on it.
Front apron removed
Rear apron
Hopefully for my next update, these aprons will be on the baja. :wink: |

front clip worked in today
sheet metal screws hold it for testing panels fit
hood installed for fit
fenders tested for fit, front passengers fender is after market, and won't be used

My friend Steve and I are doing all the work including the welding. He's the Colorado Clip King, and I'm the aspiring apprentice.
We put in some more hours tonight. We got the rear clip installed, test fit the decklid and fenders.
