If you don't mind me asking how much money do you have tied up in that?

I don't have too much money into it, but tons of time. The most expensive thing was the brand new interior I ordered...which was $600 bucks.

You can see the crazy amount of time involved. I was just wondering what that type of thing runs with me doing the work. I like to tinker with stuff like that.

I'm still making progress but slowed down for a while there. For the most part, I just need to install the interior.

Just an amazing transition. It looks like you just picked it up new at the dealer. The purist in me loves this car. I also love the color. You don't see this color that often and it looks great.

Great job!

Get it done by 2007 for it's 40th year anniversary.

Looking good rag!

That thing really turned out nice, Do mine next. :D

Great looking car you have there! I'm doing the same to a '55 oval window right now, so I understand what it takes. Now price-wise you are right. Welding new front and rear sections to a beetle can cost anywhere from $2500-$3000 in Canada, and that's assuming the shop is interested! Anyways, nice to see it done properly, you sure proved that "VW restoration specialist" guy I talked to wrong!

Jesus, thats expensive

I'm not sure on the US to Canadian $$ conversion, but that does sound high....oh well. I'm glad to hear you're saving your oval!

Hey skim, how's your impala coming along?

lonslo Sun Sep 10, 2006 12:44 pm

coming along well but slow because my pockets have been on the injured list lately. Finished color sanding and buffing and got the majority of my chrome plating back from the chrome shop. Also got a set of Daytons for it.
