hopefully soon, but I have a ton of wet sanding and blocking to do on it first.

Skim Thu Mar 23, 2006 4:22 pm

you doing base coat clear coat or single stage paint?

biggene Fri Mar 24, 2006 7:38 am

Skim,

Ragman and I were talking about it yesterday in chat and he said he was going with single stage PPG. I have been thinking of going with 2 stage base/clear on mine with high build primer underneath, but seeing the way Rags is turning out he may have sold me on the single stage shot also.

Single stage PPG Omni. cheaper paint, but it can still produce good results. I painted my bus with the same stuff.

I agree,..I've painted cars for a living for the past 11 years, the PPG off brand Omni does work well,..I haven't tried it in a single stage, but their Omni clear lays out like glass!

PS,.. good job so far !

They wont sell me the single stage out here. Just the 2 stage PPG Omni. I prefer single stage because I like to colorsand it down a lot.

yeah , single stage is also great when you dont have a spray booth, its a good way to get a great job from wet sanding the piss out of it, and not worrying about crap burried under the clear that you may never get out.

I'm trying to get my next deployment dates changed so I can take leave and go out to visit family and hit the Bug-In. I used to go every year and look forward to going again.

Dan and Anthony,

That would be cool if you guys made it out!

Here's the lastest updates...Over the last couple days, we've finished patching a couple rust spots, completed the body work on the aprons, and are getting things ready for the final few paint sessions.

Ragman Wed Apr 05, 2006 6:12 am

I finished the body the work on the hood last night, and primered it. We also did a ton of wet sanding on the body. Planning on painting the body tonight.

Ragman Thu Apr 06, 2006 6:52 am

painted the body last night.....now I'm almost done with the body/paint
