As today's temperature was tolerable and the roads were clear of salt, I decided to take the bug out. At one point I was hung up at a left turn because of a long line of incoming traffic. I waited until I saw an opening and started my turn, the car coming at me sped up then when he realized I was there slammed on his brakes.
Unfortunately there was a cop two cars back and all he saw was me making the turn and the guy slamming on his brakes. So he turns off and starts to follow me. I keep the car in second gear (no way I can speed then) and signal for the next turn. He follows again and turns on his lights.
I am pulled over for failing to yield at a left turn and failing to signal (my bulb was out). I am given only warnings, but hey how often do some people get to see an old bug pulled over, I’ll tell them it was for speeding  |

| I've been pulled over in my bug a few times. The first time was right after I got my license, I was doing 87MPH(topping it out) in a 60MPH zone. The second time was for not stopping for a yellow light, and I ended up getting a ticket for a expired inspection sticker. The 3rd time was for running a redlight. I got a warning for that. The fifth time, also the most recent(on 4th of july) I got pulled over for a license light being out. I ended up getting a ticket for a expired registration sticker. |

Sounds like a pretty rare bus. Didn't know they made 21's in 1958. |

| I got pulled over within the first month I had the bus doing 40 in a 30 and it was the first time I was ever pulled over and he gave me a ticket. Also I've been pulled over for haveing a headlight out and he made me give him my passengers drivers licenses and go set in the cop car while he filled out the ticket then he just bullshitted about VW's while I was in there. Thanks for wasting my time. |

Friend got yanked for going through a yellow light late one night in his 66 bug. Cop wanted everybodies licenses; I refused (hell, I was only a passenger). Cop got all pissed off, I wouldnt budge. He finally gave em all back, gave the driver a ration of shit and told us to get the hell out of 'his' town.
We drove by the same cop just about every day going to school....and always waved. |

Yep, a couple of weeks ago - driving the '61 ragtop to work, 8:00 in the morning.
Cop: "Do you know you don't have any brake lights?"
Me: "Well, not trying to contradict you, but they work. They're just small (snowflakes) and dim"
Cop: "Ok, hit the brakes." (Moving to the rear of the car)
Cop: "You're right, you have lights and they are dim."
He just got in his car and left without saying another word. Classic! I removed the diffusers behind the lens later that day. They were almost black from age, heat, and dirt. Much much brighter now! |

| I remeber in 79 right after the TMI incident my mother being pulled over in her bug for going 80 in a 50 up hill. needless to say with the PA plates and the extent of what was going on there was no ticket issued. |

I got busted in Ohio doing 130 in my '03 Passat. I was trying to make it home to work on the bus :D
Cop was nice enough to only write me up for 100/65. |

| I've been pulled over many a times in both of my bugs. The one that I'll never forget is the time I got pulled over for three infractions: No front license plate (it was resting on top of the "Oh Shit" handle), Fuzzy dice hanging from the rear view mirror, (cop said it obstructed my view of the road. In my head I am thinking, other drivers obstruct my view of the road!, and the best one was tinted windows in the front, cop told me that it was dangerous because what if someone stole my bug and they are chasing it and they can't see who's inside. First off, it's a bug, with a 1600, there's no way it could ever outrun the law. Oh yeah, the front windows are smoked glass, but the cops says, "All you have to do to remove the tint is to take a knife (pulls out a little pocket knife and attempts to scratch the tint off right there!) and scratch it off" When nothing happened he told me that I might have to use some solvent to loosen up the tint. Still gave me a ticket for all three infractions though  |

i got pulled over in my '64 back in '97 for no front plate. i'm at the light waiting to make the left, and a cop goes driving in the other direction. he decides to bust a U at the next light, and get behind me before my light turns green. he pulls me over in front of my house.
after running my license, i open my driver door and my front plate is sitting on the floor behind my seat. he says "is that your front plate?" i say, "yeah, this car never came with front plate holder." he says, "why didn't you tell me that in the first place?" then let me go... |

Haha, I remember getting pulled over the first time EVER in my recently redone 73. I am lazy and just used some wire to suspend the license plate up front. The cop was coming at me on a highway, turned around, and then pulled me over. He came up and asked me why I thought he stopped me. I don't remember what I said, but he said he pulled me over for not having a license plate. I said, what happened, did it fall off? So he walks to the front and comes back. So ya do...
Then the second time I got pulled over was as I went out of town on a highway. Its 25 the entire way through this little podunk town and while I was driving home one night at like 9 in the evening I sped up maybe 1/10 mile away from the last little crossroad in town. And as I passed the corner house I saw the bastard coming up to the stop sign. "!@#$". He pulled me over doing like 35, but he was more concerned about my right tail lamp. So I giggled my fuse and blamo, all fixed :). |
